Heinrich Leitner
Heinrich Leitner (born October 7, 1842 in Vienna , † December 18, 1913 in Hamburg ) was an Austro-German marine painter.
Heinrich Leitner came to Hamburg in 1854 at the age of 12. He worked as a seaman in the merchant marine for eight years before studying with Anton Melbye as a master student at the Hamburg Trade School from 1864 to 1869 . He went on several study trips to Italy , Greece , Turkey , South America and Scandinavia .
Leitner was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association and the Imperial Yacht Club . In 1869 he accompanied Crown Prince Friedrich on his trip to the inauguration of the Suez Canal .
Carl Becker , Alfred Jensen and Lüder Arenhold were among his students .
