Heinrich Matza

Heinrich Matza (born August 23, 1918 in Vienna ; † September 15, 2010 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) who was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and member of the Vienna City Council from 1964 to 1974. Among other things, he worked for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF).

Life & Career

Heinrich Matza was born on August 23, 1918 in Vienna and worked as an employee of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). In addition, he was a long-time member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and held the office of federal committee chairman for commercial agents for several years. In 1964 he was elected from the 6th Viennese district Mariahilf to the Vienna City Council and State Parliament, to which he was subsequently elected from June 19, 1964 to September 26, 1974 over a period of four electoral periods ( 8th to 11th electoral period ) belonged to. At the beginning of his career there, he replaced the resigning Franz Bauer and was himself replaced by Franz Blauensteiner towards the end . During his active time, Matza also sat on the radio supervisory board. On April 20, 1977, the Kommerzialrat was awarded the Gold Medal for Services to the State of Vienna . In 1990 Matza, who had been active in the social security sector for many years, was awarded the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria by the Federal President .

Matza died on September 15, 2010 at the age of 92 in his hometown of Vienna and was buried on September 27, 2010 at the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 24, row 4, no. 33).
