Heinrich Michael Edelmann

Heinrich Michael Edelmann (born April 4, 1806 in Löchgau ; † July 1874 in Bad Sebastiansweiler ) was a trained surveyor, major general and deputy Württemberg war minister.

Life

Edelmann was born the son of a master stone mason. He learned to be a surveyor and at the age of 21 joined a pioneer company as a volunteer . In 1832 he was promoted to sergeant , in 1835 to sub-lieutenant and aggregated to the 4th Infantry Regiment. In 1849 he became a captain in the 2nd infantry regiment , and in 1857 he was promoted to major . He was transferred to the War Department and appointed a member of the War Department College. In 1865 Edelmann became a colonel . On June 11, 1866, he was appointed Deputy Minister of War and promoted to major general. In 1869, at his request, he was retired due to physical ailments.

After his retirement he went to Bad Sebastiansweiler every year for a spa treatment . During a stay at a spa in July 1874, he slipped on the stairs of the Badgasthaus and suffered a fractured skull as a result of which he died.
