Heinrich Nuhn

Heinrich Nuhn (born February 11, 1938 in Niederaula , Kassel administrative district ) is a German contemporary historian, educator and non-fiction author. After working at the Jakob-Grimm-Schule in Rotenburg an der Fulda , he designed the Jewish Museum there in the former mikveh as curator , and has been its supervisor since 2006.

Life

Heinrich Nuhn studied English, German, modern history and politics in Marburg an der Lahn and Liverpool from 1958 to 1964 . From 1964 to 1966 he received a research grant from the Volkswagenwerk Foundation , and in 1989 he received his doctorate in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the Philipps University of Marburg. Nuhn worked as a teacher at the Jakob Grimm School in Rotenburg an der Fulda until 2003 , as well as a pedagogical assistant at the Hessian Institute for Teacher Training (HILF) in Bad Hersfeld . He has dealt intensively with Jewish and Nazi history as well as the social history of the region and has written numerous reports on it. He has also designed exhibitions on German overseas migration and Jewish regional history as well as multimedia projects and websites on these topics. He was instrumental in uncovering the Rotenburg Jewish ritual bath (mikveh) and in using it as a Jewish museum .

Heinrich Nuhn is an appointed member of the Commission for the History of the Jews in Hesse . In 2001 he was elected to the Hessische Akademie rural area (HAL) for the field of contemporary history , for which he worked as secretary on the board, in 2007 he was made an honorary member of the HAL.
