Heinrich Rudolph von Vasold

Heinrich Rudolph von Vasold (* 1707 in Ingersleben (Thuringia) ; † 1786 ) was a royal Prussian major general and the chief of the Cuirassier Regiment No. 6 as well as the bearer of the Pour le Mérite .

Life

He came from a Thuringian noble family and was initially in the service of Saxe-Gotha . In 1741 he went into Prussian service. On January 8, 1745, he became a major in the Leibkarabinerregiment . In 1754 he became lieutenant colonel, in 1758 colonel and on April 14, 1759 he became major general and chief of the cuirassier regiment 6. From 1741 he was involved in all of Frederick II's campaigns. In 1758 he was able to distinguish himself in the battle of Wischau in Moravia that he received the order Pour le Mérite . In 1759 he went into captivity with the Fink Corps in the Battle of Maxen . He was released from captivity at the end of the war and tried by a court martial, which also sentenced him. But he could keep his regiment. But he had fallen out of favor with the king; and so he asked for his departure, which was also approved. He then entered service in Denmark.

He was married to Katharina Charlotte in Thuringia and was buried in Ingersleben .
