Heinrich Schacht (born January 26, 1840 in Lemgo , † February 8, 1912 in Jerxen / Detmold ) was a German educator and ornithologist .

Life

His father worked as a master turner . Schacht took an early interest in the bird world. He attended the Lemgo elementary school and, from 1855, the teachers' seminar in Detmold. Here he was taught and promoted by Carl Weerth (founder of the State Museum in Detmold). 1857 final examination, assistant teacher at the cantor school Oerlinghausen ; 1858 to 1865 teacher in Lieme , 1865 to 1890 teacher in Veldrom . First scientific lectures from 1870 on Lippe's bird life to the Natural Science Association for Lippe . From 1890 to 1912 he was the main teacher at the then newly founded Jerxer School (Jerxen near Detmold). In 1892 Schacht was responsible for 93 pupils (44 girls, 49 boys). In 1902 102 pupils attended the school. In 1909 Schacht received a secondary teacher, August Räker, to support him. The elementary school at that time still exists today as a primary school and bears the name Oetternbachschule . Schacht was a member of the board of directors of the zoological section and wrote articles in the magazines ornithological monthly and Der Zoologischer Garten . He was involved in the Lippe Teachers' Association and was a long-time member and chairman of the Lippe Association for Animal Welfare. He wrote poems, also in Lippisch Platt. From 1891 to around 1912 he headed the men 's choir "Arion" in Jerxen-Orbke (today: men's and women's choir "Arion" Jerxen-Orbke).

For health reasons, he had to resign from his position as a conductor. A short time later he passed away. His colleague, Gustav Wolff , wrote an obituary for Heinrich Schacht in the ornithological monthly .
