Heinrich Scheppmann

Heinrich Schepp man (* 4. November 1895 in Essen , † 28. September 1968 ) was a German politician of the CDU . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1965. From November 13, 1958 to 1965 he was chairman of the Bundestag Labor Committee.

Life

Scheppmann attended elementary school in Essen from 1909 to 1913 and was then drafted as a soldier. He joined the German Center Party in 1919 and soon after became district chairman in Beuthen , Upper Silesia. After the end of the First World War he worked as a miner until 1928. He then became branch manager of the Christian trade union, but was dismissed after the NSDAP came to power in 1933. After he was unemployed until 1937, he was hired again in the mining industry, where he worked until the end of the war , the last few years as a technical employee. He was also involved in building up the German Federation of Trade Unions and was its deputy head in the Niederrhein district. From 1950 to 1958 he was on the board of the mining industry union.

politics

In 1945, Scheppmann was one of the founding members of the CDU in the Rhineland. He was active in the North Rhine-Westphalia regional executive committee of the CDU and worked on the district executive committee of the CDU Essen, where he sat on the council from 1945 to 1953. From 1946 to 1947 Scheppmann was also a member of the first and second appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the federal election in 1953 , he was elected to the German Bundestag via the CDU state list. During the second legislative term he was a member of the Labor Committee, which he chaired from November 1958 until the end of the fourth electoral term. In the second electoral term, Scheppmann was also a member of the Committee on Health Matters and the Committee on Election Review and Immunity. In the third electoral term he was also a full member of the Social Policy Committee.

Honors

Scheppmann was awarded the Great Cross of Merit in 1959 and the Great Federal Cross of Merit with a Star in 1965 . He was also awarded the Grand Cross of the Cisnero Order in 1961 .
