Heinrich Schneider (theologian)
Heinrich Schneider (born February 22, 1908 in Merkenfritz ; † April 23, 1994 in Mainz ) was a German theologian.
Life
From 1927 to 1931 he studied at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau and from 1931 to 1932 at the seminary of St. Peter . After receiving his doctorate in 1935 with Arthur Allgeier at the University of Frankfurt am Main , dissertation: The ancient Latin biblical cantica , he studied from 1935 to 1939 at the Pontificio Istituto Biblico . After his habilitation in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1943 , habilitation thesis: The biblical odes and the Christian psalmody among the Greeks and Syrians , he taught from 1946 to 1975 as a professor of the Old Testament at the University of Mainz .
