The Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome ( it : Pontificio Istituto Biblico , PIB) is a Vatican university in Rome .
The Pontifical Biblical Institute is an affiliate of the Gregorian and the Pontifical Oriental Institute . The institute has the right to award academic degrees, including doctorates.
history
The institute was founded in 1902 by Pope Leo XIII. planned, but only by his successor Pius X founded. Pius X commissioned on May 7, 1909, the Congregation of the Jesuits with the organization and named Leopold Fonck the founding rector. In 1927 a branch was opened in Jerusalem .
