Heinrich Schneider (born March 21, 1859 in Büdingen , † May 6, 1926 in Leipzig ) was a businessman , court jeweler of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and order maker in the Kingdom of Saxony .

Brief CV

In 1888 Heinrich Schneider came to Leipzig and bought an existing jewelry store in the old town hall . On May 18, 1888, he opened this under the name Heinrich Schneider jewelry company . While working as a jeweler, Schneider was one of the best-known personalities in Leipzig's economy.

In addition, Schneider was involved in the development of sport and aviation; For 13 years he was the first chairman of the “Sportplatz” association , which operated the Leipzig sports field for track cycling races .

In 1919 Schneider handed over his jewelry business to his son Heinrich. Schneider himself remained a factory and estate owner until his death.

The Heinrich Schneider jewelry store is still located in Old Town Hall 1 today (2012) and is still family-owned. The company can look back on more than 120 years of business activity.

Order supplier in the First World War

On February 8, 1915, Schneider applied to the Royal Saxon Order Chancellery for delivery for war medals. The order's chancellery accepted his application. The first order included the delivery of 300 knight's crosses for the Albrecht Order I and II class with swords, which Schneider delivered in the same month.

In the period that followed, Schneider produced other knight's crosses of the Albrechts Order, the deliveries of which are documented until after the end of the First World War in 1918. Furthermore, he also produced Saxon War Merit Cross with the stamp S . Another 10,000 Friedrich August medals were also delivered to the Order's Chancellery.
