Heinrich von Keppel

Heinrich von Keppel (* in the 14th century; † in the 15th century) was vice dominus , canon and official in the prince-bishopric of Münster .

Life

Heinrich von Keppel was born as the son of Hermann von Keppel (former cathedral scholaster) and his wife Margaretha von Merveldt . He was first mentioned in a document on July 31, 1419 as a canon of Münster. He graduated from Bologna . From 1434 on he held the office of Vice-Dominus. He was the representative of the sovereign . In the same year Heinrich came into the possession of the Archdeaconate Rorup . From 1427 to 1441 he was a Münster official and thus head of the church court . He held the office of cathedral scholaster from 1438 to 1444. In this function he was responsible for the management of the cathedral school . He belonged to the canons of Hermann Droste zu Vischering , Hugo von Schagen , Heinrich Korff called Schmising and Sander von Oer to the opponents of Walram von Moers , whose election as bishop led to the Munster collegiate feud . This banned Heinrich . In November 1456 he was, besides Sander von Oer, the only canon who was a supporter of the party of Bishop Erich von Hoya . This was the counter-bishop of Walram von Moers. The archdeaconate Stadtlohn also belonged to Heinrich's possession. On November 10, 1457 he introduced the new bishop Johann von Pfalz-Simmern . Heinrich's brother Gerhard was Hereditary Marshal of the Dukes of Kleve and built the Marienburg Charterhouse in Weddern in 1476 .
