Heinz-Dieter Kobel (also Dieter Kobel or Dixie Kobel ; born September 7, 1955 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Kobel worked as a midfielder for Borussia Neunkirchen in the late 1970s . He was part of the team that rose from the Saarland Amateur League in 1978 to the 2nd Bundesliga (group south). After only one season in the 2nd Bundesliga, Borussia Neunkirchen rose again from bottom of the table. During this time Kobel made 37 professional appearances and scored nine hits.

He was remembered by his phantom goal in Neunkirchen's game against the Stuttgarter Kickers on October 21, 1978. In the 63rd minute of this encounter, a shot from him missed the goal when the score was 3: 3. Since the ball jumped up from behind the net in such a way that the impression of a valid hit was created, the referee and linesman decided on goal to the supposed final score of 4: 3. In view of the clear television images, this decision was subsequently revised. The game was rescheduled and won 1-0 by the Stuttgarter Kickers. For the first time in the Bundesliga, the " factual decision" of a referee did not last.

In 1978/79 and 1979/80 Kobel was also in action with Borussia Neunkirchen in the DFB Cup, but retired in the first and second round and remained without a hit. Kobel then belonged to the team that made it back to the 2nd Bundesliga as champions of the Oberliga Südwest , but moved to SV Elversberg , who had been promoted to the Oberliga Südwest in the 1980/81 season . With SV Elversberg he played again in the DFB Cup in 1981/82 , but was eliminated in the second round against Borussia Dortmund . Kobel scored one goal in both cup games.

1991/92 Kobel was temporarily active as a player- coach at Tus Dunzweiler , later he was a player at FC Palatia Limbach . In the summer of 1999 he left the club to become a player- coach at TuS Hochspeyer . He later returned to FC Palatia Limbach , where he was on the one hand active in the AH team and on the other hand worked as a youth coach. In the summer of 2006, after 22 years of coaching experience, Kobel took over the coaching position at the district league promoted SV Bexbach . In November, however, he was released from office.

Kobel is active for the traditional team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
