In 1996 he moved to Porsche AG, where he was project manager for engine development until 1998 . He was then Head of Engine Design until 2001 and Head of Drive Development from 2001 to 2011 . In 2013, Neuss also took over the management of engine development for the Volkswagen Group. On July 1, 2013 Neusser became a member of the Brand Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, where he was responsible for the Development division. He is threatened with arrest outside of German territory and extradition to the United States. In August 2018, he and several other high-ranking Volkswagen managers received their termination without notice, against which Neusser is taking legal action.
