Heinz-Wilhelm Dünhaupt

Heinz-Wilhelm Dünhaupt (born May 7, 1912 in Bückeburg , † April 19, 1998 in Celle ) was a German grandmaster in correspondence chess .

Correspondence chess

In the 6th all-German correspondence chess championship in 1958/60, Dünhaupt took third place as the best West German player. As a result, he often took part in international matches and chess Olympiads . In 1963 he became international master in correspondence chess . In 1973 he finished second in the international BdF anniversary tournament, tied behind the Swede Eric Arnlind. In the same year the World Correspondence Chess Federation ( ICCF) awarded him the title Correspondence Chess Grandmaster . After 6th place in the 6th DM and 2nd–3th place in the 12th DM, he won the 13th German correspondence chess championship in 1975.

Tournament chess and chess composition

On the board he was three times champion of Lower Saxony (1939, 1949, 1952). In 1959 he became German team champion with the Hanover Chess Club from 1876. In the 1970s he played with Hanover in the German Federal Chess League .

After the Second World War he composed several chess problems , some of which won prizes.

Private

Dünhaupt worked as a senior public prosecutor at the higher regional court in Celle.
