Heinz Antor

Heinz Antor (* 1959 in Nuremberg ) is a German Anglist .

Life

Antor studied English, Romance studies and applied linguistics in Erlangen and Oxford . In 1986 he passed his state examination and obtained the title Master of Arts , in 1989 he received his doctorate . From 1986 to 1995 Antor worked as a research assistant at the University of Würzburg . In 1992 he was a visiting professor at George Mason University in Fairfax , Virginia . In 1995 Antor received his habilitation . From the 1995 summer semester to the 1999 summer semester, Antor held a professorship for English literatures and their didactics at the University of Düsseldorf ; In the 1998/99 winter semester he was Professor of English at the University of Bremen . Since the winter semester 1999/2000 Antor has held a chair for English literary studies at the University of Cologne . In 2001 Antor was elected chairman of the Society for New English Language Literature (GNEL) eV.

In his research, Antor deals, among other things, with English literature from the 18th to the 21st century, with English-language novels, the literature and culture of Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with post-colonialism research and with cultural theory .
