Heinz Basan (born February 10, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player. In 1969/70 he played for BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Heinz Basan began his football career with the Dynamo Frankfurt (Oder) police sports club . There he played until 1962, most recently in the junior team . Even before the end of the season, it was integrated into SC Frankfurt as part of the takeover of the football section and won the GDR Junior Cup with Basan in June 1962 .

At the start of the 1962/63 season of the second-rate GDR league , the 18-year-old defender Heinz Basan moved to the company sports community (BSG) Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt, where he played his first six second division games that season. After only a year he made another change and joined the GDR league club BSG Stahl Riesa . After he had also only played six league games there in 1963/64, he succeeded in 1964/65 with 17 appearances in 30 league games in the expanded regular squad of Riesa . With 25 games he was an undisputed part of the team in 1965/66, but suffered a relapse again in the 1966/67 season with only three league appearances.

From the 1967/68 season Basan played again for Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. With his 24 league appearances, he fought back a regular place that he was able to defend in the 1968/69 season. He was thus also one of the guarantors for promotion to the GDR Oberliga, with which the Eisenhüttenstadt team ended the season. In the league season 1969/70 Basan initially played the first six games, but then had to sit out several times, so that he could finally complete only 16 of the 26 league games as a defender. He was also used three times in the GDR league team Stahl II. The league team failed to stay up and should have been relegated to the GDR league. Since the BSG was charged with serious violations of the association's statutes, the previous league team was downgraded to the third-class district league Frankfurt (Oder) .

With Basan Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt won the district championship in 1971 and was then successful in the promotion games to the GDR league. Although Basan was nominated for the GDR league season 1971/72, he was not used and later did not appear in the top football leagues. There he had played 128 games within eight seasons, but scored no goals as a defender.
