Heinz Dunkel

Heinz Dunkel (born October 20, 1931 in Solingen ; † February 3, 2002 ) was a German SPD politician .

education and profession

Heinz Dunkel attended elementary and middle school. Then he trained as a cutter grinder. From 1958 he was an employee. In 1950 he became a member of the metal industry union.

politics

Heinz Dunkel had been a member of the SPD since 1956. From March 1961 he became a council member of the city of Solingen. In 1964 he became mayor of the city here. At the time of his election, at the age of 32, he was Germany's youngest mayor.

From July 25, 1966 to May 27, 1975, Heinz Dunkel was a directly elected member of the 6th and 7th Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituency 055 Solingen II.

Honors

In 2001, Dunkel was awarded the Ring of Honor of the City of Solingen.
