Norbert Feith (born August 15, 1958 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was Lord Mayor of the independent city of Solingen from 2009 to 2015 .

Origin, studies and private matters

Norbert Feith graduated from the Otto Hahn Gymnasium in Bensberg in 1978 . He then did military service between 1978 and 1979 and is now a non-commissioned officer in the reserve . In 1979 he began studying political science and sociology as well as social , constitutional and economic history at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn . From 1982 to 1983 Feith studied abroad at the Pontifical University of Salamanca and the Complutense University of Madrid . In 1987 he completed his studies with the examination for the Magister Artium .

Feith is Catholic, married and has two daughters.

Professional activities

Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth 1991 to 2001

Feith was a research associate and office manager under the CDU Bundestag member Hannelore Rönsch . From 1991 to 2001 he was head of department at the Federal Ministry for Family and Seniors , where he was in charge of the basic departments for family policy and senior citizenship.

From 2001 to 2015 Norbert Feith was on leave as an administrative employee in the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs.

Alderman in Bergheim and Solingen from 2001 to 2009

From 2001 to 2008 Feith was councilor for youth, education and social affairs as well as treasurer of the district town of Bergheim . In 2008 he was appointed to the city of Solingen's councilor for youth, school, sport, culture, health and integration; Feith held this election office until 2009.

Lord Mayor of Solingen from 2009 to 2015

On August 30, 2009, Feith was elected the new Lord Mayor of Solingen and succeeded his predecessor Franz Haug . Feith won the OB election against the SPD candidate Hans-Joachim Müller-Stöver.

Feith declared after the local elections in May 2014 that he no longer wanted to run for a second term (2015 to 2020).

Administrative employee in the federal service from 2015 to today

On November 1, 2015, Norbert Feith returned to the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and works part-time as an administrative employee at the Bonn office of the Ministry .
