Heinz Dunkhase (born October 12, 1928 , † August 3, 1987 in Hamburg ) was a German director .

Life

Heinz Dunkhase trained as an actor and came to the NWDR in 1948 . For the Hamburg broadcaster, later NDR , he produced radio series such as Entertainment for Everyone , Adrian and Alexander , Die Schallplatten-Illustrierte and Peters Bastelstunde .

Dunkhase had his greatest success with the recording of the famous New Year's Eve skit Dinner for One , which he shot in 1963 in the NDR studios in Hamburg. Together with Peter Frankenfeld, he discovered the English actor Freddie Frinton in a Variété theater in Blackpool and invited Peter Frankenfeld to Hamburg for Frankenfeld's Saturday evening show . Some time after the live broadcast, the sketch was recorded by NDR in a theater in Hamburg.

Heinz Dunkhase's father was a spice wholesaler in Hamburg and died on July 15, 1941 from the first bomb on Hamburg that hit his parents' house. He began his professional career as an actor in what was then the Junge Theater in Hamburg, today's Ernst Deutsch-Theater. From 1948 he worked for the NWDR, the later NDR, not only as a radio director, but also as a writer, editor and director for NDR television in series such as Hello Neighbors , a lot of episodes by Fritz Muliar tells Yiddish jokes and anecdotes for the 3rd TV program, etc. In addition, he directed and as co-author of Hans-Günther Martens 30 episodes The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schwejk with Fritz Muliar.
