Heinz Fischer-Karwin
Heinz Fischer-Karwin (born April 23, 1915 in Linz ; † October 27, 1987 in Vienna ) was an Austrian radio and television journalist and presenter.
Life
The son of a family of officers trained as an actor and began to work for radio in 1945 after acting and military service, first for the BBC's German service in London, and from 1947 for eight years with Radiodiffusion française in Paris . In 1955 he returned to Vienna and worked in the Wiener Funkhaus for Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (later: ORF ). His reports on the signing of the State Treaty on May 15, 1955 made him a "star reporter". In autumn 1955 he reported on the reopening of the State Opera and Burgtheater . He also worked as a reporter for the semi-state Austria Wochenschau , which was shown in cinemas.
He was assigned the design of his own series of programs. In the radio show Aus Burg und Oper he regularly interviewed well-known actors and singers and became known throughout Austria. For television, the cultural series Your appearance, please , followed, which he not only moderated but was also the main editor, as well as portraits of cities and landscapes.
Often only HFK was mentioned: In his later years, Heinz Fischer-Karwin was considered the grand seigneur of the profession. He spoke flawless standard German and conveyed sophistication, demeanor, dignity and style. On the other hand, colleagues like Eva Maria Klinger and Thaddäus Podgorski admitted that he had sometimes appeared malicious and arrogant to interviewees.
He was buried in an honorary grave (group 40, number 158) in the Vienna Central Cemetery .
