Heinz Gauly (born September 28, 1931 in Würzburg ) is a German archivist , historiographer and author.

Life

In his native city of Würzburg, Gauly first attended the humanistic grammar school and then trained as an industrial and administrative clerk . He then worked for several years in the industry in purchasing and sales. After all, he headed the administration of the Episcopal Seminary and the Martinus Library and Archive of the Diocese of Mainz for 30 years . In addition, he took over the executive administration of the “Papal Work for Spiritual Professions” (PWB) in the Diocese of Mainz.

When he retired in the autumn of 1994, he moved to Salz (Lower Franconia) near Bad Neustadt an der Saale . Five years later he founded the “Sälzer History Working Group” and also became its chairman. Gauly is a member of the association "Friends of Mainfränkischer Kunst und Geschichte" in Würzburg, the "Archaeological Working Group Rhön-Grabfeld " and the association " Palatinate-Rhenish Family Studies " in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . In his hometown Gauly is archivist of the parish of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
