Heinz Grünbeck (born July 12, 1928 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper. In Erfurt , Jena and East Berlin he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . In 1953/54 he was in the master team of the BSG Turbine Erfurt .

Athletic career

Grünbeck became Thuringian soccer champions with SG Fortuna Erfurt in 1949 . The SG Fortuna qualified for the soccer east zone championship in 1949 and reached the final. There she met the 20-year-old Grünbeck at the goal of the ZSG Union Halle , to which she lost 4-1. As a final participant, Erfurt was eligible to start the first season of the zone league, which was newly introduced from 1949/50 (later DS-Oberliga, GDR-Oberliga ). Grünbeck was once again a goalkeeper in the squad, which was restructured into the company sports association (BSG) KWU Erfurt during the season . He also played the first two point games, but was replaced by Heinz Senftleben, who was four years older than him , after the 2: 5 home defeat against Horch Zwickau .

Grünbeck moved to BSG Carl Zeiss Jena in the second-class state class Thuringia during the 1949/50 season and helped her move up to the newly installed GDR league , which was to function as the second division in the future. In the first GDR league season 1950/51, the Jena team took on as BSG Mechanik, and Grünbeck played 14 of the 18 point games played.

For the 1951/52 season, Grünbeck returned to Erfurt, where his former team now appeared as BSG Turbine. He was initially only a substitute goalkeeper behind Senftleben. It was not until Senftleben left for Eintracht Braunschweig in March 1952 that Grünbeck got the chance and played the last ten point games. In the season 1952/53 he was the goalkeeper of Erfurt from the 4th day of the game and was used in 29 league games in the 32-round season. Grünbeck initially retained its status as a regular goalkeeper in the 1953/54 season. He played all matches up to the 24th matchday, after which he was excluded from the BSG Turbine in March 1954 for disciplinary reasons and banned from the Oberliga and DDR-Liga for six months. At the end of the season Turbine Erfurt was GDR champion.

After a short interlude at the third-rate BSG Motor West Erfurt, Grünbeck played his first league game for the army sports club Vorwärts Berlin on matchday 8 of the 1954/55 season . By January 30, 1955, Grünbeck was in eight point games in the Berliner Tor. Then he disappeared from the upper leagues of GDR football.
