Christa Anita Brück

Christa Anita Brück , pseudonym for Christa Jaab , later married. Christa Larisch , (born June 9, 1899 in Liegnitz , † February 22, 1958 in Königstein im Taunus ) was a German writer.

life and work

Christa Jaab was the daughter of a postal worker. After attending a high school and commercial training, she worked as a stenographer and secretary in Berlin for ten years. As early as 1920/21 she wrote articles for tomorrow. East Prussian weekly magazine . In 1928 she was presented on the radio as an "East Prussian writer". In 1932 her article Die Stenotypistin überm Average appeared in a company newspaper .

In 1934 she married the bank manager Günther Ladisch.

Under her author's name, she wrote four novels that focus on the situation of female employees at the end of the Weimar Republic . The first, Fates Behind Typewriters , received a lot of attention when it appeared and was translated into several languages. The sociologist Siegfried Kracauer wrote approving reviews and notes . In contrast, the then Association of Female Commercial and Office Workers (VWA) criticized the book because of its "lack of individual willingness to make sacrifices and the unvarnished representation of the office reality". 1933 after the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists up the book was black list of harmful and unwanted literature added.

Christa Anita Brück's second novel ( A Girl with Procuration ) deals with the situation of small bank employees during the German banking crisis in 1931 . A feature film by Arzén von Cserépy was made in 1934 based on the book .

The crime story The Judge of Memel is set against the background of the Lithuanian-German conflicts in what was then Memelland . Thematically, Die Avalanche ties in with Brück's first novel. Another book ( Who else speaks to Luedemann? ) Has not been published and seems to be lost.
