Heinz Grahneis

Heinz Grahneis (born October 3, 1915 in Halle an der Saale ; † December 14, 2007 ) was a German medic.

Life

Heinz Grahneis finished his medical studies in 1945 and received his doctorate from the University of Halle . In 1946 he became the representative of the state government of Saxony-Anhalt for epidemic protection and set up the first medical center in Bad Schmiedeberg . For a short time he was a district doctor in Naumburg and in 1949 became a state hygiene doctor . In 1953 he became head of the district hygiene institute in the newly created Halle district . In 1961 he was appointed to the German Academy for Medical Training , where he headed the Chair of Hygiene and Disease Control . At the same time he was chairman of the Central Expert Commission for Hygiene . In 1963 he was given a teaching position at the University of Halle and three years later he completed his habilitation at the Humboldt University in Berlin with a medical perspective on ornithosis control in the poultry industry and became honorary professor for general and communal hygiene . In the following year he also began his work at the Hygiene Institute of the University of Halle at the chair for general and communal hygiene . In 1973 he was accepted into the GDR Academy of Sciences . In 1975 he became a representative of the GDR in the World Federation of Public Health Associations . His scientific work has mainly dealt with problems of applied epidemiology of communicable diseases, water and air hygiene and applied immunology . In South America he was involved in a large-scale trial to test the effectiveness of oral typhoid and measles vaccination .
