Heinz August Wilhelm Grothe (born March 24, 1912 in Berlin ; † February 9, 1990 there ) was a German editor , dramaturge, theater and film critic, narrator, writer and publisher and was accepted into the Nazi -minded Bamberg poet circle in 1938 .

Life

He attended school in Weißensee and then switched to high school in Reinickendorf , where he passed the Abitur. Grothe studied newspaper science from 1931 . During his studies, he completed several months of labor service in order to be able to maintain his studies. Due to the early death of his father, he was forced to take up a job and put his volunteer time behind him in Berlin . From the beginning he specialized in features and culture.

Grothe worked as a lecturer and built up a theater department for the Kanter publishing house in Königsberg . In 1939 he, Hans Franck's son-in-law , was accepted into the Bamberg circle of poets. He served them as a chronicler through his journalistic connections and also represented their National Socialist orientation: As a reviewer , he emphasized the “corrosive Jewish influence” in society before the First World War and in an essay that was (? Re) printed in early 1945 with the title » Dramatic Creation of the Present «he viewed the“ clear development ”that the“ past decade of German cultural life ”had embarked upon with the“ clear elimination of the Jewish elements ”as a“ purification process ”. Grothe wrote of the "subhumanism of the communist-contaminated gangs" in the context of the Kapp Putsch and asked the rhetorical question with regard to German writers who fled National Socialism : "What do the names of some emigrated louts of communist party lines make up?"

In 1940 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . Here he worked as a "war reporter " for the propaganda company, initially in southwest France and later reported from the Russian front. He was eventually taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released in 1950.

In the Soviet occupation zone in 1947 his signature was the Celebration of Life (1942) on the list of auszusondernden literature set to in the Democratic German Republic still Exit (1937) followed.

From 1954 to 1959 he worked as a television dramaturge at the Sender Freies Berlin . During this time, Grothe campaigned for the literary work of Kurt Kluge, who died in 1940 . He also administered the estate of Hans Franck and Herybert Menzel .
