Heinz Henseler (psychoanalyst)

Heinz Henseler (born May 7, 1933 in Aschendorf / Ems ; † September 9, 2011 in Munich ) was a German psychoanalyst . From 1982 to 1998 he was Wolfgang Loch's successor, second holder of the chair for psychoanalysis, psychotherapy and psychosomatics at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Henseler studied medicine at the Universities of Münster and Munich until 1958 . In 1959 he received his doctorate with the work The "analytical medicine" of the psychiatrist Heinrich Wilhelm Neumann . From 1961 to 1967 Heinz Henseler was an assistant at the Psychiatric-Neurological Clinic at the Free University of Berlin . There he acquired a specialist in psychiatry and neurology as well as a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry. From 1962 to 1966 he trained as a psychoanalyst at the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute. From 1967 he was first assistant, then senior physician at the Department of Psychotherapy at Ulm University . From 1971 to 1982 he headed the section for psychoanalytic methodology in Ulm. In 1974 he completed his habilitation with the thesis The suicide act as a narcissistic crisis . From 1978 to 1982 Henseler was chairman of the German Psychoanalytic Association (DPV). From 1982 until his retirement in 1998 he held the chair for psychoanalysis, psychotherapy and psychosomatics at the University of Tübingen and was the medical director of the department of the same name.
