Heinz Kahnt

Heinz Kahnt (born September 30, 1949 in Oranienburg ) is a former German cyclist and GDR cycling champion .

Athletic career

At the GDR championships in youth class A in 1966 he won the team pursuit title . He won a title in the races of the Children's and Youth Spartakiad . This was his first championship title in cycling. Kahnt started for SC Dynamo Berlin . His coach in the youth classes was Peter Becker , who later also coached Jan Ullrich . Kahnt was then in the men's class in 1968 (in his first season in the performance class) and in 1970 GDR champion in the team pursuit (including with Heinz Richter , who was also a member of the four-man championships). In 1970 he was appointed to the GDR national team for the UCI track world championship . He started in the single pursuit and finished 27th in the qualifying round. His best result in the pursuit at the GDR championships was fourth in 1968. In 1971 he ended his competitive sports career.

He completed an apprenticeship as a concrete worker.
