Heinz Karla

Heinz Karla (born November 28, 1924 - April 5, 2015 ) was a German soccer player . He was active at FC Schalke 04 from 1947 to 1951 .

Career

The trained coppersmith Heinz Karla was part of the FC Schalke 04 squad in the newly founded Oberliga West from 1947 . He made his debut in the top football class on matchday 13 of the 1947/48 season . The regular defender added on December 7, 1947 in the game at Sportfreunde Katernberg in the Essen stadium Am Lindenbruch under coach Willi Schäfer , who had replaced player- coach Ernst Kuzorra a few weeks earlier , the right attacking side next to Bernhard Klodt and Herbert Burdenski as winger . This was his only use this season.

In the league season 1948/49 Karla became a regular player and stood under the coaches Theo Langl and Ferdinand Swatosch in 21 of 24 league games on the pitch. He completed a few matches in a team with Ernst Kuzorra and Fritz Szepan , who completed their last season for Schalke 04. This season, FC Schalke 04 had as Tabellenzwölfter in the relegation for the league. In the end, the team prevailed against the second division clubs VfL Benrath and Bayer Leverkusen , also thanks to Karla's "inconspicuous and unexcited" performances and remained first class. Until the first half of the 1951/52 season , Karla was active for the club and completed a total of 35 league games.
