Heinz Kirchmair

Heinz Kirchmair (born February 16, 1960 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and trade unionist. Since 2013 he has been a member of the Tyrolean state parliament .

Kirchmair first attended elementary school in Polling and then completed secondary school in the municipality of Zirl . He learned the trade of carpenter from 1975 and completed his apprenticeship, where he worked in the profession he had learned until 1983, and in 1983 he finally joined the Austrian Post .

Politics and functions

At his employer, the Austrian Post, Kirchmair was involved in various functions from 1989 as a staff representative for the Christian trade unionist group . In 2009 he succeeded Erwin Zangerl as chairman of the staff representatives for Tyrol and Vorarlberg as well as state chairman of the union for post and telecommunications employees (GPF) in Tyrol and thus took over the representation of around 5,000 postal employees (active and retired) in Tyrol and around 900 employees in Vorarlberg. In the 2013 state elections , Kirchmair ran for the ÖVP and was ranked third on the ÖVP state list. Subsequently, on May 24, 2013, he was sworn in as a member of the Tyrolean state parliament, and in May 2013 he also took over the chairmanship of the AAB working group in the Tyrolean state parliament from Andreas Köll . Kirchmair names the issues of work, employment and “justice” as his political priorities.

Heinz Kirchmair was nominated on November 16, 2017 by the city leadership of the Innsbruck People's Party as one of 12 candidates from the Innsbruck-Stadt district for the 2018 state election.

Private

Kirchmair grew up with five siblings on the farm in Polling on a small farm. He is divorced and has a son and a daughter. For two decades he has been the chairman of the Tyrolean Goat Breeding Association and is also a member of the board of the Tyrolean Goat Breeding Association. Kirchmaier mentions hiking and skiing as further hobbies.
