Heinz Mönkemeyer

Heinz Mönkemeyer (born March 30, 1928 in Stahle / Höxter district; † December 26, 2006 ibid) was a German home nurse and poet.

Life

Mönkemeyer was born as the tenth child of a family of masons. He first attended the commercial school in Holzminden , and did an apprenticeship from 1944. Afterwards he was an administrative employee in Lower Saxony . In 1956 he became a councilor in Stahle, where he was the last mayor of the town before the incorporation from 1961 to 1970. From 1970 to 1988 he was a councilor for the CDU in Höxter , as well as a registrar. He worked as a home nurse (since 1974 he was a local home nurse) and was intensively involved in building the open-air theater in Stahle and looking after the wayside shrines in Stahle.

Heinz Mönkemeyer became known beyond the borders of his home village through his poetry . He wrote hundreds of poems that he published in poetry books.

He died of illness at the age of 78.
