Heinz Max Hiersig

Heinz Max Hiersig (* 1915 or 1916 ; † January 11, 2005 ) was a German engineer and founder .

Life

Heinz Max Hiersig completed his mechanical engineering studies in 1939 and began his professional career at Rheinmetall-Borsig in Düsseldorf, where he rose to the position of works manager. In 1943 he did his doctorate with Gustav Niemann at the TH Braunschweig. In 1944, Hiersig became plant manager of the Ronneburg plant of the Thuringian metal works. After the Second World War he worked as a research engineer at David Brown Ltd. active in Huddersfield , England . In 1947 he founded the Rhein-Getriebe company together with Kurt Ermert in Meerbusch .

In 1979 Hiersig received a teaching position from the Ruhr University in Bochum . From 1982 to 1984 he was chairman of the Association for Development, Design and Sales of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), then until 1998 on its advisory board. In 1991 he founded the H. and H. Hiersig Foundation together with his wife Hannelore. This established the Gustav-Niemann-Förderpreis des VDI, which is awarded every two years as an award for final or research work in the field of mechanical drive technology.

Hiersig died in January 2005 at the age of 89.
