Heinz Miedaner

Heinz Miedaner (born July 27, 1941 in Munich ) is a German brewing scientist and honorary chairman of the Central European Brewery Analysis Commission , of which he was chairman from 2000 to 2004.

Life

After graduating from high school, Miedaner completed an internship at Löwenbräu in Munich and studied from 1960 to 1964 at the Faculty of Brewing at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). He then worked there as a research assistant at the chair for brewery technology, where he received his doctorate in 1969.

From 1969 to 1971 he headed the Quality Assurance and Technology department at the First Kulmbacher Aktienbrauerei , after which he returned to TUM. As a senior engineer, he carried out research in analytics , in particular to further develop gas chromatography . As part of his habilitation thesis, he dealt with the fermentation and maturation of beer as well as the taste stability.

In 1994 Miedaner became director of the State Brewing Technology Testing and Research Institute , today's Weihenstephan Research Center for brewing and food quality . He is a founding member of Slow Brewing eV and on the scientific advisory board of the Slow Brewing Institute .
