Heinz Preiss

Heinz Preiss (born December 23, 1942 in Linz ) is an Austrian music teacher , co-founder of the Upper Austrian music school and local politician in Kremsmünster .

From 1980 to 1991 he was President and from 1991 to 1995 Vice President of the European Music School Union . In 1977 he took over the management of the Upper Austrian regional music school initiated by in and from 1990 he was the first regional music school director in the newly created regional music school directorate. From 1977 he acted as executive chairman of the Conference of Austrian Music School Works.

Live and act

Preiss grew up in Leonstein and in Ried im Innkreis and has lived in Kremsmünster since 1962 , where, in 1966, at the age of 24, in addition to studying music at the Bruckner Conservatory (piano, opera school, orchestra and church music), he took over the management of the local music school. He has been married to Rotraud since 1968 and has three children. In 2000 he started his old age pension.

Based on the considerations and concepts of Heinz Preiss, which were taken up by the regional politics under the then cultural councilor and later governor Josef Ratzenböck , after extensive preparations from 1973 in 1977 the Upper Austrian regional music school was founded. As a result, regional music schools were established in numerous places in Upper Austria. Their number increased from 34 in 1977 to 152 in 2008.

In his role as regional music school director, he was instrumental in founding the international music trade fair in Ried im Innkreis in 1989, in creating the advanced training academy for the regional music school in Weinberg Castle and in 1996 in founding the Kremsegg Castle Musical Instrument Museum . At the local level, he was cultural advisor for Kremsmünster and managing director of the Kremstal-Pyhrn cultural forum for twelve years.

Awards

At the beginning of 2013 he was honored with the culture medal of the state of Upper Austria.
