Heinz Schmid-Lossberg (born January 1, 1905 in Posen ; † after 1977 ) was a German businessman and business leader. He became known for holding management positions in German business during World War II and in the post-war period.

Live and act

After attending school, Schmid-Lossberg completed an apprenticeship in banking.

Schmid-Lossberg joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1937 and was also a member of the NSV and the DAF . In addition, he was later awarded the War Merit Cross, First Class.

During the Second World War Schmid-Lossberg was a military leader , director of the Berlin GmbH for aviation supplies and managing director of the armaments office GmbH in the Reich Ministry for Armaments and War Production . Schmid-Lossberg was also a member of the advisory board of Mittelwerk GmbH , responsible for assembling the V2 rockets , in which he represented the Ministry of Armaments. In addition, from 1943 to 1945 he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Recycling Chemistry .

From mid-February 1943 Schmid-Lossberg was part of the management of Montan and, at the instigation of the Americans, was acting director of Montan from December 1, 1945 to January 1946.

After the war ended, Schmid-Lossberg was arrested by the Allies . He testified as a witness at the Nuremberg trials .

In the Federal Republic of Germany , Schmid-Lossberg joined the Berliner Handels-Gesellschaft in 1955 , and he became its general representative. When he reached the age of 68, on January 1, 1973, he left the group of business owners of the trading company. He was also a board member of Berliner Handelsbank AG and chairman of the supervisory board of Frankfurter Kreditbank GmbH and Berliner AG für Vermögensverwaltung .

Schmid-Lossberg publicly cited GDR journalism in the so-called Brown Book as a prominent example of the continuity of the economic elites of the Nazi era in the Federal Republic.
