Heinz Zöger

Heinz Zöger (born November 19, 1915 in Leipzig ; † March 21, 2000 in Berlin ) was a German journalist . He was married to Carola Stern .

Life

Zöger trained as a typesetter and at the age of 17 became a member of the "Antifascist Red Guard". Zöger was sentenced to prison terms twice after 1933 for his work in the resistance . After the end of the war he became a member of the KPD and then held leading positions in radio in the GDR. From 1955 to autumn 1956 he was editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper " Sonntag ". On March 8, 1957, during the trial of the Harich group , the arrest took place in the courtroom and in July of the same year, together with Walter Janka (then head of the Aufbau Verlag ), Gustav Just and Richard Wolf, they were sentenced to imprisonment until 1959 Dismissed, he fled to Germany. On January 5, 1990, the 1957 judgment was overturned by the GDR Supreme Court . Zöger was an editor at WDR .
