Heiri Leuthold
Heinrich "Heiri" Leuthold (born May 20, 1967 in Oberrieden ZH ; † April 29, 2009 in Zurich ) was a Swiss social geographer .
Life
Heiri Leuthold grew up as the third of four sons in Oberrieden ZH . As a student he was an enthusiastic singer and performed with various amateur choirs. The conductor and musician Karl Scheuber was his teacher in high school . He first studied biology at the University of Zurich , but switched to social geography after completing his first intermediate diploma . Leuthold lived with his wife and two children in Zurich city district 4 .
Services
As a student, Leuthold published the study Ivory Tower or Think Tank in 1998 together with two colleagues, Michael Hermann and Philippe Sablonier . After obtaining his diploma as a geographer , he and his friend Michael Hermann founded the research project sotomo - social topology and modernization , which was initially set up at Kurt Brassel's chair and later became an independent company.
The first result of their investigations was the Atlas of Political Landscapes in 2003 , which, with a novel representation ("Spider Web"), offered a more comprehensive overview of the aspects of Switzerland's political structure. With this publication Leuthold and Hermann established their careers as socio-geographic commentators in Switzerland; Since then, both have been questioned regularly before and after referendums and elections or have published articles in this regard in newspapers and magazines. You were also involved in the start of the web-based voting aid smartvote .
In 2006 received his doctorate Leuthold with a dissertation on the socio-spatial dynamics of urban Switzerland and its politikgeografische dimension.
