Helena Zumsande

Helena Zumsande (born  October 31, 1993 in Rhede (Ems) ; †  August 15, 2015 in Hamburg ) was a German singer .

Life

In 2008, Helena Zumsande took part in the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar . The jury recognized her talent as a singer, but found that at 14, she was too young to be allowed to take part in the show. She was advised to come back in a few years.

After graduating from school, Zumsande began training as a teacher. In 2014, at the age of 18, she was diagnosed with stomach cancer. As a result, she dropped out of school and started therapy to fight her illness.

Her family encouraged her to fulfill her wish to become a singer. She covered the song All Of Me by John Legend . The family founded the Facebook page Ein Song für Helena and stopped recording there and on YouTube , the song was clicked thousands of times. When Helena Zumsande announced next song How beautiful you are of Sarah Connor to covers, it was by the singer in person to Berlin invited into their recording studio. There they recorded the song together in June 2015. This video was viewed millions of times on the Internet and the young woman became known throughout Germany.

Helena Zumsande died on August 15, 2015 in the UKE Hamburg .

Shortly after her death, Zumsande's book As long as you hear my song was published, which she had written together with the star journalist Nina Poelchau .
