Helga Dietrich
Helga Margareta Dietrich (born November 12, 1940 in Zwickau ; † June 30, 2018 ; née Kolbe ) was a German biologist. Your botanical author abbreviation is " H.Dietr. ".
Career
Dietrich studied biology at the University of Jena from 1959 and graduated in 1964 with a diploma on the pollen morphology of the Plantaginaceae . She then worked as a research assistant at the University's Institute for Special Botany / Botanical Garden. After receiving her doctorate in 1975, she was appointed curator of the Jena Botanical Garden. Her dissertation dealt with the topic of the characteristics of the Plantaginaceae and its significance for the system . In 1980 she was qualified to teach , between 1989 and 1994 she completed a PhD B procedure, which shortly afterwards became a habilitationwas recognized. From 1994 to 2006 she was a lecturer at the Institute for Special Botany, and since April 2006 she has been a lecturer there.
She campaigned for the protection of orchids and presented a compilation of orchid occurrences in Thuringia and other federal states. From 1982 to 1994 she was a member of the European Orchid Committee (EOC), from 1984 to 1992 a member of the Subcommittee Orchidaceae of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) and from 1990 to 1996 of the Subcommittee on Protection of Genetic Plant Resources -Wild Plants. She was a founding board member of the Association of Botanical Gardens . Since 1992 she has been a member of the Thuringian State Conservation Council.
