Helga Herdejürgen
Helga Herdejürgen (born July 9, 1938 in Bremen ; † July 27, 2001 in Bonn ) was a German classical archaeologist .
Life
Helga Herdejürgen studied classical archeology and philology at the universities of Freiburg and Bonn , where she received her doctorate in 1964 as a student of Ernst Langlotz . For 1965/1966 she received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . After her return she worked at the Antikenmuseum Basel until 1970 . Since then she has lived as a private scholar in Bonn and Rome.
Her research focus was on ancient terracottas, statues of gods, reliefs and Roman sarcophagi. In the sarcophagus corpus she edited the volumes on Ravenna (1979) and urban Roman and Italian garland sarcophagi (1996); a follow-up volume was not made due to differences with the management of the corpus.
