Helge-Ulrike Hyams

Helge-Ulrike Hyams (born April 24, 1942 in Neuruppin ) is a German educator.

Life

Helge-Ulrike Peter received his doctorate in educational sciences at the University of Marburg in 1971 with Wolfgang Klafki . Then she received a call as professor for educational sciences at the University of Bremen .

In Marburg she built in 1979 along with her husband Charles Barry Hyams the "Marburger Museum of Childhood" on which was operated as a private initiative and closed in 2009. For this commitment she received the Otto Ubbelohde Prize of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in 2006 . The majority of their collection of Jewish children's books went to the public library of Leo Baeck College in London as the “Hyams Collection” .

Hyams has four children. Her first marriage was to the sociologist Lothar Peter .
