Helge Baues (born June 22, 1994 in Celle ) is a German basketball player . He measures 2.05 meters and occupies the position of the large winger . He has been part of the UBC Münster squad since summer 2019 .

Player career

Baues played in the youth department of TuS Eicklingen and TSV Neustadt am Rübenberge. In the 2010/11 season he was for the men's team of the Hanover basketball club in the 2nd regional league and moved to BSG Bremerhaven in 2011. There he also played in the 2nd regional league and in the youth basketball league , the highest youth division in German basketball. In addition, Baues took part in the training of the Bundesliga club Eisbären Bremerhaven and was awarded a professional contract in July 2013. He achieved his first season in the basketball league with short appearances . In the 2014/15 season, thanks to a cooperation agreement between the Eisbären and the Cuxhaven BasCats , he played mainly for the latter in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA .

Baues spent the 2015/16 season at the Hamburg Towers . In addition to encounters in the ProA with the Hanseatic League, he gained additional match practice for the cooperation partner of the Towers, the SC Rist Wedel , in the third-class 2nd Bundesliga ProB .

In July 2016 he signed a three-year contract with the ProA promoted Dresden Titans , but went down with the Saxons in the ProB in the first year. After his three-year contract had expired, he and his girlfriend, volleyball player Barbara Wezorke , moved to Münster during the 2019 summer break , and Baues joined the UBC team, which had recently become ProB runner-up. Baues had completed his studies in biotechnology in Dresden, and in Münster, in addition to working as a basketball player, he started his career.

National team

In the summer of 2014, Baues was part of the German U20 national team for the European Championship in Greece.
