Hell-Born is a Polish death and black metal band from Sopot that was founded in 1996.

history

The band was founded in 1996 by the guitarist Leszek "Les" Dziegielewski ( Damnation , Behemoth ). In the same year, the band released their debut album, which includes a cover version of Destructions Antichrist . In 2000, Jacek "Jeff" Kubiak joined as guitarist before signing a recording deal with Conquer Records the following year , which in 2001 released the self-titled album. In October they went on tour through Europe with Damnation , but the tour had to be canceled after four concerts because Baal Ravenlock suffered a throat infection. In November 2002 they went on a tour through Poland with Diabolical , Necrophobic , Thus Defiled , Corruption , Mess Age and Unnanmed . In 2002 the album The Call of Megiddo was released. In March 2003 the drummer Sebastian "Bastek" "Basti" Łuszczek was replaced by Krzysztof "Mały" Jankowski. After appearances in the USA in November, concerts with Demoncy and Forest of Impaled followed . In May 2004 they went on a club tour in London . In February 2005, the band went to the Hertz Studio to record the third album, Cursed Infernal Steel . The album Legacy of the Nephilim (which had actually already been released in 2003) was re-released in the USA in 2005 via Ibex Moon Records , before a new recording contract was signed with Conquer Records in September. This was followed by further appearances in Poland together with Hermh , Massmord and Blindead in November and December 2006. The album was released that same year. The next album followed in 2008 under the name Darkness .

style

Joel McIver wrote in his book Extreme Metal II that Hell-Born is a death metal band that was founded by Dziegielewski and Muraszko as a thrash metal side project. Pendragon from Metal.de wrote in his review of Hellblast that it contained black metal that was played relatively quickly, whereby the members were strongly influenced by Slayer and Morbid Angel . The technical level is high, but the songs are mostly average and unoriginal. Edouard Vergriete from voicesfromthedarkside.de said in his review of The Call of Megiddo that the quality of the album does not come close to its predecessors, but the album is still better than the many other Black and Death Metal releases. Patrick Schmidt from Rock Hard found that Darkness “relies on heavy, often pounding Death Metal that is strongly reminiscent of Amon Amarth ”. In the songs, the group processed riffs in the style of Legion of the Damned and the atmosphere of Behemoth , whereby the songs rely on the skills of the individual members. Especially the drumming stands out.
