Damnation is a Polish death metal band from Sopot that was founded in 1991, disbanded in 2004 and reunited in 2013.

history

The band was formed in the fall of 1991. In February 1993 she recorded her first demo with Everlasting Sickness , of which over 800 copies were sold. In April 1994 the second demo Forbidden Spaces was created . As a result, the band reached a contract with the Polish label Pagan Records , which in October 1995 released the debut album Reborn ... , which had previously been recorded in the summer of that year. The band consisted of the drummer Wawrzyn "Varien" Chyliński, the guitarist Bartłomiej "Bart" Szudek and the guitarist, bassist and singer Leszek "Les" Dziegielewski. In early 1996 Damnation signed a three-album deal with Last Epitaph Productions . In September of that year, the second album Rebel Souls followed on this label , with Juan Carlos "Dagon" Pla as bassist. The album was recorded in April and May of that year. In the same year the band was also represented on the Kat Tribute album Czarne Zastępy: W Hołdzie Kat from Pagan Records with the song Porwany Obłędem . In 1997 the band appeared on a split release with Behemoth , with Damnation's songs being taken from the demo Forbidden Spaces . In the same year the EP Coronation was released , which consisted of three new songs and a newly recorded version of the song Land of Degradation . The EP was recorded in February 1997 with producer Robert Hajduk at PJ Studio . In the same year Arthur joined the band as the new bass player. In April 1998 the band went on tour through Poland with Lux Occulta and Sacriversum . Then the band played on the German Fuck the Commerce and the Belgian With a Dragon's Blaze. Next, the band recorded the 1998 Demo Promo at Selani Studio . The album successor was released in 2000 under the name Resist in Poland by Metal Mind Productions , in Germany by Cudgel Vertrieb and in the USA by Realm Records . The album was recorded in June and July 1999 at PJ Studio. The band then consisted of the drummer Chyliński, the guitarist Szudek, the guitarist and bassist Dziegielewski and the singer Adam "Raven" Muraszko. The band also took part in two Morbid Angel tribute albums, Bleed for the Devil on Dwell Records and Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost on Hellfire Records . The group also contributed A Mansion in Darkness for a King Diamond Tribute album on Necropolis Records and Tribulation for a Possessed Tribute album on No Mercy Records . In April and May 2000 the band went on a European tour with Severe Torture and played the third Fuck the Commerce in early June. This was followed by the next tour through Europe together with Dying Fetus . At the beginning of 2001, Bartłomiej "Bruno" Waruszewski joined the band as the new bass player ( Azarath ). His first appearance was at the Conquer Records Festival. Then drummer Mark joined as a new member. He played his first appearances in June 2001 on a tour with Krisiun and Spawn . The band broke up in 2004 and reunited in 2013.

style

According to Aaron McKay from chroniclesofchaos.com, the band play Resist Death Metal with satanic lyrics. The drums are fast and the singing is guttural . In terms of sound, the music can be described as a mixture of God Dethroned , Morbid Angel at the time of Covenant and Blood Ritual .
