Azarath is a Polish black and death metal band from Tczew that was formed in 1998.

history

The band was founded in October 1998 by drummer Inferno, bassist and singer Bruno and guitarist D. In the same year the first demo called Traitors was released , followed by Promo 2000 in 2000 . Various appearances followed, with guitarist Bart joining the band as the new guitarist. Together they recorded their debut album Demon Seed at the Hertz Recording Studio . In late August 2003, the band recorded their second album, Infernal Blasting, at the Hendrix Studio . After the recordings D. left the band and was replaced by Thrufel. In June 2006 the band recorded the third album in the Hendrix studio. In August they continued these recordings in the Hertz Recording Studio. After the release of Diabolic Impious Evil on September 16, they went on tour through Poland with Vader , Vesania and Trauma . In November 2007 another tour followed through Poland together with Stillborn and Deception , with Adam Sierzega (ex- Lost Soul ) playing as a live drummer at Azarath.

In October 2008 the band signed a contract with Agonia Records . The band was also signed by Deathgasm Records for a release in North America . The fourth album Praise the Beast was released by these labels on May 25th, 2009. This was followed by appearances at various festivals such as the Inferno Metal Festival Norway in Oslo in April, the Devilstone Festival in Lithuania in June and the Party.San in Germany in August 2009. In September and October the band went on a Behemoth tour through Poland with Hermh and Black River . After this Bruno left the band and was replaced by bassist and singer Necrosodom ( Anima Damnata , Ex- Thunderbolt , Ex-Throneum), who had been in contact with the band since 1999/2000. In late 2010, the band signed a deal with Witching Hour Productions . In January and February the band recorded the next album in Hertz Studio under the direction of the Wiesławscy brothers. In January 2011 the band separated from guitarist Thrufel, so that singer Necrosodom now also played the electric guitar instead of the bass. P. joined the band as the new bass player. In 2011 the fifth album Blasphemers' Maledictions was released by Witching Hour Productions.

style

The band plays a mix of black and death metal that is comparable to the music of Behemoth . Bart names Immolation , Morbid Angel (to Covenant ), Sinister ( Cross the Styx ), Deicide (to Legion ), Bathory , Sarcófago , Venom and Krisiun , Necrosodom as examples of his influences as Bathory, Mayhem , Abigor , Samael as some of his influences (up to Ceremony of Opposites ), Mercyful Fate , Darkthrone , Nifelheim , Inquisition , Burzum , Funeral Winds , Hellhammer / Celtic Frost , Beherit , Grave , Slayer , Sinister, Dissection , Morbid Angel (up to Covenant ), Incantation and Treblinka / Tiamat .

The name of the band was taken from the song title Azarath: Watching in Darkness from the album Rebel Souls by the band Damnation, on which Bart had previously played. Bart also points to Azerate as the secret name of the eleven anti-cosmic gods and key to the gates of the dark dimensions, with which he also alludes to the Misanthropic Luciferian Order . Until 2009, the lyrics were simple and direct, but not as strictly related to chaos, philosophy and the anti-cosmic concept as they are now. For Necrosodom, Death Metal does not stand for technical play and progression, but blasphemy and chaos. Since he wrote the lyrics for Blasphemers' Maledictions , they are more spiritual and less anti-Christian.
