Hella Eckert (born January 17, 1948 in Bremen ) is a German writer .

biography

Eckert studied German and English in Heidelberg. She has been a freelance writer since 1998 . She lived in Nairobi , then in Les Mazes in the south of France, in Berlin and Córdoba , Argentina. In early 2007 she returned to her native Bremen. She has three children.

Eckert, who started writing in the early 1980s, is the author of novels that describe the development of young girls and their families during the early years of the Federal Republic. Her texts, which are influenced by American authors such as Carson McCullers and Richard Ford , are characterized by a remarkable sense of style and convincing reproduction of the atmosphere of the time.

In addition to several literary grants, Eckert received the Rheingau Literature Prize in 1998 .
