The Hellenic College (HCHC, Greek Ελληνορθόδοξη Θεολογική Σχολή του Τιμίου Σταυρού , German: Hellenic College, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology ) is an orthodox liberal arts college and seminary in Brookline (Massachusetts) .

history

The institute was originally founded in 1937 in Pomfret, Connecticut by Archbishop Athinagoras as the Holy Cross Theological School . In 1946 the school was relocated to Brookline, Massachusetts. In 1966 the seminary was expanded to a full four-year college, which opened in 1968. Holy Cross was accredited and became one of the most influential educational institutions of the Orthodox Churches in the New World.

Course offer and accreditation

Hellenic College offers a Bachelor of Arts degree as a degree . The Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology offers graduates the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), The Master of Theological Studies (MTS), and the Master of Theology (Th.M.). Hellenic College and Holy Cross were accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in 1974 , both of which were combined as Hellenic College . The School of Theology was also accredited in the same year by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada . Holy Cross is part of the Boston Theological Institute .

Hellenic College is located on a campus of 24 hectares in Brookline, in the catchment area of Boston , on the former site of the Boston family Weld. The Boston Celtics used to practice there .

Summer programs

  • "Crossroad" is a ten day program in which Orthodox high school graduates and high school students can test their calling.
  • The "Pappas Patristic Institute" is a seminar-supported program that focuses on the reading of the early church fathers.
