Hellmut Georg Isele

Hellmut Georg Isele (born March 2, 1902 in Konstanz , † March 7, 1987 in Pully , Switzerland ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Isele studied law at the universities of Heidelberg , Berlin and Freiburg im Breisgau from 1920 to 1924 , graduating with the first state examination. He was then a faculty assistant at the University of Freiburg from 1925 to 1932, passed his second state examination in 1928 and received his doctorate there in the same year . The title of the dissertation was: "Debt of money and cashless payments". In 1932 he completed his habilitation with Heinrich Hoeniger at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau with the habilitation thesis “Business procurement. Outline of a System ”. From 1932 to 1936 he taught as a private lecturer at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , in 1935 as a deputy professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and in 1936 as a lecturer at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . There he was appointed associate professor in 1937.

At the beginning of the National Socialist era , he joined the SA in 1933 and became a member of the NSDAP in 1937 (membership number 4.048.302). He was also a member of the National Socialist Lawyers' Association and the Academy for German Law .

Isele was appointed full professor at the University of World Trade in Vienna in 1940, where he taught until 1945. From 1946 to 1959 he taught as a full professor at the Department of Law and Economics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . Between 1947 and 1949 he was dean of the faculty, then rector and prorector of the University of Mainz. From 1959 to 1969 he taught as a full professor at the University of Frankfurt am Main. Isele was a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz from 1950 to 1987, and was its president from 1967 to 1969.

From 1949 to 1973 Isele was editor of the Archives for Civilist Practice .
