Hellmut Gutzwiller
Hellmut Gutzwiller (born September 28, 1922 in Basel ; † November 17, 2007 in Brig ) was a Swiss historian and archivist and state archivist for the canton of Solothurn .
Gutzwiller was the son of Gisela (daughter of Paul Strassmann ) and Max Gutzwiller . He studied history and classical philology at the University of Friborg , where he received his doctorate in 1949 under Oskar Vasella . From 1950 he worked at the Freiburg Cantonal Library and then at the State Archives of the Canton of Freiburg . From 1963 he worked at the State Archives of the Canton of Solothurn , which he headed from 1976 to 1987. His best-known font is The Development of Fonts from the 12th to the 19th Century from 1981.
