Hellmut Körner (State Secretary)

Hellmut Körner (born September 29, 1944 in Meißen ) is a German politician . From 2005 to 2009 he was State Secretary in the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Family, Youth and Seniors.

Life

Körner studied economics in Hamburg and did his doctorate by 1975 on the effects of the influx of refugees and foreign workers on the functioning of the German labor market. He then worked on behalf of the Hamburg Research Council, and in 1978 he joined the Hamburg administration as an employee of the Ministry of Economics . From 1981 to 1984 Körner worked as a consultant at the Hamburg State Representation and then returned to the economic authorities as a department head. From 1995 until his appointment as State Secretary, Körner was the head of the Senate Chancellery's planning staff , responsible for coordinating departments and being in charge of interdepartmental issues.

Since 2010, Körner has been managing director of ABG Gesundheitsimmobilien, a construction planning company affiliated with Damp Holing AG, which, among other things, oversees the new construction of the Schleswig Clinic, which is subsidized with several million from the state of Schleswig-Holstein. In September 2012 he took over the management of a project to modernize and revitalize the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) on behalf of the Hamburg Authority for Economy, Transport and Innovation (BWVI).

Körner is married to Ingrid Körner and has four children.

State Secretary

From February 15, 2003, Körner was State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Culture of Schleswig-Holstein. After the red-green state government under Heide Simonis ( SPD ) was voted out and the CDU-SPD government under Peter Harry Carstensen ( CDU ) was formed, he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Family, and Youth from April 27, 2005 Seniors.

In the wake of the breakup of the grand coalition in July 2009, all SPD ministers were dismissed from their posts on July 20, 2009. On July 23, 2009, Körner and the other state secretaries of the former SPD-led ministries were put into temporary retirement . Körner's successor as State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Family, Youth and Senior Citizens, Olaf Bastian took over on July 25, 2009 in addition to his position as State Secretary and authorized representative of the State of Schleswig-Holstein at the federal government .
