Hellmut Schneider

Hellmut Schneider (born April 22, 1923 in Niedersalzbrunn ; † March 18, 2010 ) was a German politician. He was from 1959 to 1963 for the GB / BHE and from 1990 to 1994 for the CDU member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Schneider attended elementary school in Seitendorf and then learned to be a butcher in his father's company . In April 1942 he joined the Wehrmacht and was deployed on the Eastern Front. After the war he was out side the village in 1946 expelled and settled in Hönze , district Alfeld (Leine) to. He graduated from the police school in Bad Salzdetfurth and worked as a police sergeant from then on. From 1949 he worked as a self-employed businessman. He became managing director of the Lower Saxony regional association of the Federation of Expellees .

Hellmut Schneider was already a councilor and mayor of the community of Hönze in 1948, which he remained until 1974. From 1952 he was a member of the district council. In 1954 he became deputy district administrator of the Alfeld (Leine) district, after the district reform he was deputy district administrator in the Hildesheim district until 1971 . In the fourth electoral term (1959–1963) Schneider was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the GB / BHE . He later became a member of the CDU; for them he was again a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament in the 12th electoral term (1990–1994).

Schneider received the Cross of Merit First Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . From 1981 to 1986 he was a member of the Broadcasting Council of the North German Radio . Schneider was made an honorary citizen of the Sibbesse community in 1988 .

In November 2013, the council of the municipality of Sibbesse decided to rename the multi-purpose hall in Hönze as "Hellmut Schneider multi-purpose hall". During his tenure as mayor of the former municipality of Hönze, Schneider played a key role in building the multi-purpose hall in 1968. On April 30, 2014, a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the multi-purpose hall.
